The year 2020 was unforgettable for many reasons, but for one determined girl and her family, it marked the beginning of a mission to make a difference in the lives of animals affected by natural disasters. This is the story of how compassion turned into action, and how one small act of kindness sparked a larger movement to save wildlife in need.
In 2020, as bushfires devastated Australia, a group of our acquaintances, along with my daughter, traveled to Batemans Bay to assist those affected by the crisis. Their visit to the fire-ravaged area brought stories of resilience and heartbreak, from burned forests to the desperate plight of wildlife.
Seeing images of the devastation and hearing accounts of rescued animals gave me a powerful sense of urgency. It became clear that helping those who save animals during such disasters wasn’t just a one-time effort—it needed to be a lasting commitment.
This realisation inspired the creation of Art for Animals, an NFT project dedicated to supporting organisations like WIRES that rescue and rehabilitate wildlife. By channeling the power of art into meaningful action, I aim to raise awareness and provide much-needed funding for these vital efforts.
Taking Action
The experience in Batemans Bay was a turning point. After returning home, I began researching how I could contribute beyond that one-time effort. I learned about organisations like WIRES, which provide critical rescue and rehabilitation for wildlife affected by natural disasters. Their work inspired me to think creatively about how to raise funds and awareness for this important cause.
This drive eventually led to the creation of Art for Animals, an NFT project that channels 40% of its proceeds to WIRES. NFTs offered a modern and transparent platform to bring together art enthusiasts, collectors, and animal lovers to support wildlife rescue efforts.
A Family Mission
Throughout this journey, my daughter has been my constant source of inspiration and support. Her compassion and determination reminded me that even the smallest actions can ripple outwards. Together, we have made it our mission to not only help rescue animals but also educate others about their importance in our ecosystem.
Our trip to Batemans Bay wasn’t just about providing immediate help—it was about planting the seeds for long-term change. We’ve continued to support rescue organisations, raise awareness, and explore innovative ways to give back.
A Fight Worth Fighting
Natural disasters like bushfires are becoming more frequent and intense, making the work of animal rescue organisations more critical than ever. By channeling our love for art and wildlife into meaningful projects, we hope to inspire others to join the fight to protect our planet’s most vulnerable creatures.
Every animal saved represents a victory, every donation a step closer to a safer world for them. What began as a heartfelt trip to help in a time of crisis has become a lifelong mission—a girl’s fight to save the animals and a testament to the power of compassion in action.
